For extra flavor, try adding a pinch of red pepper flakes to the brown butter sauce. If you don't have pine nuts on hand, slivered almonds or chopped walnuts make a good substitute. Be careful not to burn the butter! Keep a close eye on it as it browns. Adding a squeeze of lemon juice at the end brightens the flavors. Feel free to substitute other winter squash varieties, such as acorn or kabocha.
