Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a large, insulated beverage cooler, combine the sugar and chilled water. Stir well until the sugar is completely dissolved. (5 minutes)

02

Step

Gently pour in the root beer extract, stirring to incorporate it evenly. (2 minutes)

03

Step

Wearing protective gloves, carefully add the dry ice to the cooler. (3 minutes)

04

Step

Loosely cover the cooler with its lid. Do not seal it tightly, as pressure from the dry ice will build up. (1 minute)

05

Step

Allow the mixture to brew for approximately one hour before serving. This allows the dry ice to sublimate and carbonate the root beer. (60 minutes)

06

Step

Once the dry ice has fully sublimated, the root beer is ready to enjoy. If you have any leftover, store it in gallon jugs.

Always use gloves when handling dry ice to avoid burns.
Never seal the cooler tightly while the dry ice is still present, as this could cause a dangerous pressure buildup.
For a richer flavor, consider using a combination of brown sugar and white sugar.
If you don't have a large cooler, you can scale down the recipe and brew it in smaller batches.
Ensure adequate ventilation while the dry ice sublimates.

The root beer was a hit, however I let the dry ice dissolve completely before bottling.

Be careful when you add the dry ice. It bubbles and smokes really quick

  • Oral Littel

I stored the root beer in plastic bottles, and they got really hard! I had to let some of the pressure out. Next time I'll leave more room at the top.

The root beer tasted just like the stuff I used to get at the old-fashioned soda fountain!
