Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking pan. (5 minutes)

In a small bowl, combine the 1 tablespoon granulated sugar and ¾ teaspoon cinnamon for the topping; set aside. (2 minutes)

In a medium saucepan, combine apple pie filling, applesauce, ½ cup granulated sugar, brown sugar, 3 tablespoons butter, vanilla extract, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture has slightly thickened, about 5 minutes. (10 minutes)

Press half of the crescent roll dough into the bottom of the prepared baking pan, forming a crust. Pour the apple mixture evenly over the crust. Unroll the remaining crescent roll dough and arrange it over the top of the apple filling. (10 minutes)

Brush the top of the crescent roll dough with melted butter and sprinkle evenly with the cinnamon-sugar mixture. (3 minutes)

Bake in the preheated oven until the crust is golden brown, approximately 25 minutes. Let cool for at least 10 minutes before serving to allow the filling to set slightly. (35 minutes)

For a richer flavor, consider browning the butter before adding it to the apple mixture.
A sprinkle of chopped pecans or walnuts over the top before baking adds a delightful crunch.
If you prefer a less sweet cobbler, reduce the amount of sugar in the apple mixture.
