Follow The Directions

01

Step

In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. (2 minutes)

02

Step

Add the chopped onion and cook until softened and translucent, about 5-7 minutes. (7 minutes)

03

Step

Stir in the drained fava beans and lemon juice. (1 minute)

04

Step

Add the tahini and stir continuously until the mixture thickens and becomes smooth, about 2-3 minutes. (3 minutes)

05

Step

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes, until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic. (2 minutes)

06

Step

Season generously with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. (1 minute)

07

Step

Serve immediately, or let cool slightly. Garnish with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of fresh parsley, if desired.

For a milder garlic flavor, sauté the minced garlic with the onion at the beginning.
If the mixture is too thick, add a tablespoon or two of water to reach your desired consistency.
This dish is delicious served warm with pita bread, crudités, or as a filling for sandwiches or wraps.
A dollop of plain yogurt or a sprinkle of chopped fresh herbs (such as parsley or cilantro) adds a lovely finishing touch.

I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out perfectly. The garlic flavor was a little strong for my taste, so next time I will sauté it with the onion.
